Deli.cio.us vs Windows Live

February 26, 2008

deli.cio.us (it is hard to remember where the full stops go) stores your bookmarks for you online. This means you can find them from any computer and share them with others.

I could not find any such  ability on Windows Live which just seems to provide a hotmail address. I wondered if I was missing something so I looked it up on Wikipedia which is informative as ever. Here is what the Wikipeda said :

‘Windows Live is the collective brand name for a set of services and software products from Microsoft. A majority of these services are Web applications, accessible from a browser, but there are applications that need installing as well. ‘

My assessment is that deli.cio.us is way better for sharing links, despite its awkward spelling.

Traffic noise is not cool

February 26, 2008

This post on Window: Scene by Luke Munn about Traffic is pretty cool. It critiques an artwork which is about traffic but does not show the effect traffic has. The first art project has no sound effects, the second makes traffic sound pleasant instead of unpleasant.

What I think of computers

February 22, 2008

What I think of computers? Luverly machines they are. They save lots of time … imagine having to write (and edit!) everything longhand. Computers can also capture a lot of time. Some people sit so long they get deep vein thrombosis.

Now they are getting tiny. An alternative to the Apple laptop presented in class, is the new Eee PC. Costs $500 and is the lightest laptop yet. I didn’t check the weights, but my guess is it is half the weight of the Apple. (If someone checks… add a comment on this blog). Maybe the advertising is not as cool, but the computer is.
